Top 10 Most Comfortable Bike Seats for Men On The Market In 2020 Reviews
1 PRO Stealth Road Bicycle Saddle – Most Comfortable Premium Bike Seat for Men
There are two versions of this saddle. There are a carbon rail and a standard rail option. The carbon rail saddle weighs in at a very trim 172g. It’s a highly competitive weight for a racing saddle, but it will cost you a 50% premium over the standard model.
The saddle has a surprising amount of EVA padding for a racing saddle. Although it’s unlikely that you’ll be spending much time in a position to place much pressure on the rear of the seat, it’s nice to know there’s some padding there just in case. We have to commend the PRO Stealth Road Bicycle Saddle for producing such a light saddle with this amount of versatility.
The long narrow shape lends itself to spending large amounts of time towards the front. The easy transference of power and hip rotation makes it a great saddle for time-trialing and even for triathletes.
Great for those who suffer from numbness…
It also features a large cut anatomical relief channel. It’s about as wide as a channel can be cut before moving to a split triathlete style saddle. The generous cutaway channel is likely to benefit all sports and endurance orientated riders who tend to suffer from numbness.
The sizes are relatively wide for a road bike seat. They come in the option of either a 142mm or 152mm. We can’t help thinking that for some smaller cyclists, and there are plenty, this is fractionally too wide. A choice of either a 135mm or 145mm would seem more logical.
Finally, this well-made premium saddle also has mounts for cameras and lights. Of all the most comfortable bike seats for men, if you need something lightweight, and you’ve got the cash, this is the one for you.
- High level of EVA padding.
- Large cut anatomical relief recess channel.
- Designed for high power transference.
- The smallest size is too wide.
2 Planet Bike A.R.S. Classic Black Bike Seat for Men – Highest Padding Bike Seat for Men
This is a highly padded saddle. The padding is at its thickest at the rear. However, there’s also plenty running right down to the nose. For a long nose saddle, they don’t come with much more cushioning than this.
What’s the padding made from?
The padding is composed of foam rather than gel. It helps, in part, to keep the weight down, though it’s still hardly light. Weighing 416 grams, it’s heavy in comparison to most quality road bike saddles. However, for a multi-purpose saddle, it’s about what you’d expect.
Given the price, this is most likely to find its way on to less expensive bikes. These may include entry-level road bikes as well as mountain bikes. It might even find its way onto an electric bike.
Does it help with numbness?
The seat has a long and wide relief channel running almost its entire length. If you have problems with numbness in your soft tissue area, the fact is that this should help a lot.
The rear of the saddle also has some potential built-in comfort features. It’s made to be flexible and to mirror your movement on the bike.
The saddle cover has a high level of water resistance, so you don’t need to worry about taking it out on rainy days. Additionally, it has a thick tear-proof outer Lycra layer, which makes it highly durable.
All in all, the Planet Bike A.R.S. Classic Black Bike Seat can be used on a wide cross-section of bikes. It’s a solidly built entry-level saddle, but it does have its limitations. These being its weight and the fact that the degree of padding makes it a poor choice for longer rides.
- High level of padding.
- Large relief channel.
- The seat mimics the rider’s movement.
- Water-resistant outer layer.
- Not suitable for long rides.
3 Bikeroo Oversized Comfort Bike Seat Most Comfortable Replacement Bicycle Saddle – Most Comfortable Exercise Bike Seat for Men
This is a cruiser style saddle. It has a truncated nose; it’s highly padded and also sprung. It’s also very heavy.
The padding is over two inches thick, which should generally be enough to soften any ride. However, with the addition of the two elastomer springs, you’ll feel like you’re riding on air.
Despite efforts to contain the saddle’s weight, such as the use of synthetic rubber elastomer springs rather than steel, the Bikeroo seat is undoubtedly a heavyweight. To be precise, it weighs close to a kilo, which is about as heavy as you’re ever likely to get.
Fortunately, the weight is not an issue since the Bikeroo is made as a replacement saddle for exercise bikes or cruisers. In either eventuality, a heavy saddle is either irrelevant or of very little importance.
Who else is it really best for?
The seat is likely to find favor with cyclists who ride in predominantly an upright position. This is true for either indoor training or outside riding. This is because when riding and placing a high amount of downward pressure on the saddle, lots of cushioning is required.
Since the padding and width will interfere with your legs and hips’ natural movement, this is a seat that’s best suited for riding short distances. It’s perfect for a spinning class or a ride around town, or maybe even a short commute. Over longer distances, it’s likely to chafe and cause discomfort.
What do we like most?
Finally, this durable and robust saddle comes with an old-style adaptor. This means that it can be used with older as well as more modern seat tubes. That’s a feature that’s very much worth having.
- Two-inch thick padding.
- Two heavy-gauge elastomer springs.
- Includes a mount adaptor.
- Very heavy.
- Only suitable for a limited number of bikes.
4 Sunlite Cloud-9 Bicycle Suspension Cruiser Saddle, Cruiser Gel, Tri-color Black – Most Comfortable Cruiser Style Saddle for Men
The amount of padding in this little saddle is incredible.
It has an absolute ton of dual-density foam crammed under the surface. As well as multi-layer foam, it also features additional thick springs to further dampen down any road vibrations. This combination has to make one of the most comfortable bike seats for men who need a cruiser style saddle.
Is it heavy?
Unfortunately, this super comfortable seat is also super heavy too. We think the Bikeroo saddle is heavy, but the Sunlite Cloud-9 Bicycle Suspension Cruiser Saddle weighs an even heavier scale, busting 3lbs. This is heavy even by cruiser bicycle standards.
It should also be noted that the saddle is 6.3” in height. When you swap it out for your old saddle, you will probably need to alter your seat stem. If you don’t, you might quickly find yourself sitting too high in a potentially uncomfortable position.
About the covering…
Another negative is that the seat has a low-quality cover. It’s kind of expected at this low price point. However, it does reduce the seat’s durability and also leaves it exposed to water becoming absorbed into the foam padding. A little more money spent on a better cover would have gone a long way.
Given the seat style, padding, and weight, we can’t see it finding its way on anything other than a cruiser, possibly a town bike, or maybe an exercise bike. In short, this is a saddle that is meant for the rider to maintain an upright position with all their weight firmly on their backside.
The ultimate in comfort…
For short leisurely rides, you’ll go a long way to find anything more comfortable and affordable than the Sunlite Cloud-9.
- Super thick padding.
- Strong springs.
- Short relief channel.
- Poor quality cover.
- The seat stem may need to be adjusted during installation.
5 Domain Cycling Premium Bike Gel Seat Cushion Cover 10.5 “x7” – Most Comfortable Bike Seat Cover for Spinning
Though you can use this for outdoor riding, we think it’s likely to find most favor on exercise and spin class bikes.
Only for narrower seats…
The seat cushion cover measures 10.5” by 7” and comes in seven different colorways. Whilst we applaud the choice, it’s never the less disappointing that they only have one available size. This makes it only suitable for narrower seats.
However, since it has been designed for spinning classes, it’s likely to only find favor with a limited number of customers. This is because a lot of spin and exercise machines use relatively wide saddles. In any event, you should carefully measure your existing saddle first to ensure it will fit.
Why is it good for spinning?
The Domain seat is well made and uses gel rather than foam for the cushioning. This helps to reduce the density, which in turn makes it more comfortable to use over longer rides or spinning sessions. For anything other than long endurance or aggressive riding, it works just fine.
The Domain Premium Bike Gel Seat Cushion Cover is waterproof and made from good quality and durable materials. The cover also has a non-slip coating to help you stay put in the same position. Wherever you choose to use it, there’s no doubt that it’s strong enough to survive plenty of use and abuse.
Is it easy to use?
Yes. Another big plus is that it’s easy to put over your saddle and just as easy to take off. It’s great for taking to the gym for your spinning class. No more having to sit on someone else’s dried in sweat!
Finally, this is a company that stands firmly behind their product with a 100% money-back guarantee.
Now that’s something you can’t argue with.
- Low-density padding.
- Easy to put on and take off.
- Easy to clean.
- Choice of seven colorways.
- Only one available size.
6 West Biking Black Gel Bike Seat – Best Value Comfortable Bike Seat for Men
West Biking is not a well-known brand within the cycling community. Never the less they’ve done lots of things right with this saddle. Not the least being that they’ve delivered a decent product at a very reasonable price.
So, what do we like about it?
Firstly, they’ve used some excellent quality materials. The synthetic cover is thick, hardwearing, waterproof, durable, and is beautifully stitched to the rest of the saddle. The rails and the spring dampening balls are also strong and sturdy. Plus, the high-density memory foam feels like it’s made to last. Overall, the saddle has a premium feel, which given the entry price point, is a great achievement.
It’s well-padded at the rear, and the addition of spring dampening lends itself to a comfortable ride in an upright position. The springs are much less prominent than on more traditional cruiser style saddles. The truth is that they’re almost impossible to see unless you look very closely.
Integrated rear light…
A feature that we’d like to see on more saddles is the incorporation of a rear light. It’s neatly integrated and runs on a coin-like CR2032 battery. It’s simple to operate and even has three light modes. As long as it doesn’t break, it’s a great addition.
This is a bit of an all-round saddle and is likely to find its way onto lots of different kinds of bikes. It would probably be best suited on mountain bikes, city bikes, and commuters, though it would still work on cruisers. It could be used on road bikes though the level of padding and width at the rear would restrict you to short and less performance orientated riding.
We like it!
Considering its price-point, we have very little criticism of the West Biking Black Gel Bike Seat.
- Use of quality material.
- Well made.
- Thick density foam.
- Strong rails and springs.
- Integrated rear light.
- Unlikely to be able to repair the rear light if needed.
7 OUTERDO Comfort Bicycle Seat – Most Versatile Comfortable Mens Bike Seat
The OUTERDO Comfort Bicycle Seat offers a lot of saddle for not a lot of money.
It measures 255cms long by 189cms wide and weighs a somewhat heavy 595 g. It has approximately the length of a road saddle, though the width is considerably wider. Together with the thick padding and springs, it’s likely to be best suited on mountain bikes, hybrids, city bikes, commuters, and gravel bikes.
The cover is made from water-resistant, non-slip PU leather. We’re not big fans of PU leather on bicycle seats as they tend to wear quickly. However, OUTERDO has done a great job with this one. It’s thick, tough, tear-resistant, and looks like it has plenty of years in it.
Underneath the cover is a layer of high-density memory foam. When coupled with the elastomeric suspension, it’s enough to give you a comfortable ride even when adopting an upright position. However, it’s still not been overdone to overly interfere with your natural movement on the bike.
We’re sure you’ll agree that it’s a hard trick to pull off, but we think OUTERDO has produced a saddle that is comfortable in a range of different riding positions. For everything other than more extreme performance riding, the OUTERDO Comfort Bicycle Seat has nailed it.
One final feature is that it includes a cutaway relief channel that potentially can make it more comfortable even on longer rides.
- Suitable for a wide range of riding styles.
- Hard-wearing cover.
- A balanced level of padding.
- Includes a relief channel.
- Good value.
- Not suitable for high-performance riding.
8 provelo Most Comfortable Bike Seat for MenWomen – Most Comfortable Budget Mens Bike Seat for Upright Riding
This is very similar to the West Biking seat we reviewed earlier. It has most of the same features. However, the ProVelo Most Comfortable Bike Seat for Men Women is significantly less expensive.
So, should you buy this one?
It undoubtedly offers good value as you get a well-made, soft padded wide saddle that also has shockproof suspension. Although it’s predominantly made for riding at the rear of the saddle, it has a long nose that minimizes any interference with your thighs during long rides.
It also has a partial relief channel. It’s not fully open, like on the West Biking saddle, but it’s sufficient to do the job.
Great to see a rear light again…
Another plus is the integrated rear light. It has three different modes, it’s easy to use, but more importantly, it’s bright enough to help you be seen over long distances. It uses a standard CR2032 coin-like battery.
This is all good, but there is one fly in the ointment, and that’s the seat cover. At a glance, it’s easy to see that this is where the money has been saved. The PU covering is not up to the same standard as the West Biking saddle, and also, it looks and feels a little shiny. This translates to you moving and slipping around, possibly a little more than you’d like.
Any other complaints?
The stitching could also be better, and finally, we’re unsure of the durability with heavy use.
Despite this, there’s no doubt that it’s still a good saddle, and if you’re not riding huge distances all the time, it will make a good choice. Plus, with ProVelo providing a 100% guarantee and risk-free refund, you have genuinely nothing to lose if you give it a try.
- Thick foam padding.
- Has a long nose.
- Integrated light.
- Money-back guarantee.
- Quality of the PU cover.
9 Xmifer Oversized Bike Seat, Comfortable Bike Seat – Most Comfortable Oversized Bike Seat for Men
This is an inexpensive seat that can be used on just about any bicycle. It has thick foam padding and also dual springs to help even out the bumps in the road and keep you comfortable. For those that prefer, it can also be used on an indoor exercise bike or spinning bike.
It’s a solid performer, but it’s as heavy as you’d expect at this kind of price-point. However, what you wouldn’t expect, and is rather nice, is the choice of colored highlights. The green, blue and red all look OK, but we’d probably opt to play it safe and go for the all-black option as we’re not so sure how long the colors will last before coming off.
Another question mark hangs over the PU leather cover. The material is thin and looks like it will deteriorate quite quickly with frequent use. More positively, it’s waterproof, so it will protect the foam inner, at least in the short term.
Moving on to comfort…
It’s designed with a small recessed channel through the middle. It might give some form of soft tissue relief, but on longer rides, your bigger problem would be the four-inch height and thick padded sides running to the nose. The fact is that both of these will cause rubbing and interfere with your natural pedal strokes.
The Xmifer Oversized Bike Seat is likely to be more at home on shorter, less aggressive rides. It’s a seat to use when you’re just popping to the shops or are riding around your local neighborhood.
Finishing with a positive, it comes with a bracket adaptor, so it will fit on any seat stem. Almost a must-have, as it’s likely to be used on older and less expensive bikes that often don’t have rail clamps incorporated into the stems.
- Choice of colorways.
- Thick foam padding.
- Dual sprung.
- Poor quality PU cover.
10 SGODDE Comfortable Bike Seat – Most Comfortable Mens Bike Seat for Endurance Riding on a Budget
This is the last and least expensive of our most comfortable bike seats for men’s top ten list. However, although it’s very affordable, it’s got plenty of great features, and it’s one we’re very happy to recommend.
The shape mimics a lot of more expensive high-end mountain bike and road bike saddles. It has a long nose with minimal padding to help the thighs move freely without rubbing. It also has a hollow cutaway relief channel for your soft tissue that runs down most of its length. Plus, it’s not too wide at the rear and not overly padded, so you can still enjoy relatively free movement on longer rides.
On shorter rides around town, you’re also catered for with gel padding that will iron out some of the bumps when you adopt a more upright position. The padding is a good compromise and is more focused on longer rides and slightly more aggressive kinds of positions.
These features, as well as weighing in at a very reasonable 451 g, all help to make it a good commuting saddle. Alternatively, it would work well on road or mountain bikes. Or even on a city bike or a hybrid.
Finally, you get a thick waterproof PU cover that’s much better quality than a lot of saddles at twice the price. It also has a non-slip coating, which is perfect for those times when you want to power down.
All of this also comes with the manufacturer’s one-year warranty.
All in all, it’s a compelling package.
- Allows for easy movement.
- Thin but effective gel padding.
- Quality non-slip waterproof seat cover.
- Long relief channel.
- One-year warranty.
- Not suitable for riding in an upright position.
Most Comfortable Bike Seats for Men Buying Guide
Finding the most comfortable saddle will very much depend on the kind of bike and the kind of riding you do. The needs of a triathlete, a commuter, or someone just cycling to the shops or the beach are very different.
So, what should you consider first?
Generally speaking, more performance and endurance-focused cyclists find seats with less padding, and therefore less restriction of movement, much more comfortable.
This is because, firstly, little padding is needed as most of the pressure is transmitted down through the legs rather than the backside. Plus, these kinds of seats markedly reduce friction, which can quickly become painful over long or aggressive rides.
More leisurely riding styles require more padding and possibly springs at the rear of the seat. This is because most of the weight is placed on the backside as a more upright riding position is taken.
If you have a cruiser or a city bike and you’re only cycling short distances, you should look for a seat with plenty of padding and even springs if you prefer. The upright position will require plenty of dampening for your behind. Plus, since you won’t be riding any big miles at any great speed, friction on the thighs, and restricted movement, won’t be of any great importance.
An excellent saddle choice in this instance would be the…
For longer rides…
For all but the most aggressive and long-distance rides, on road bikes, mountain bikes, commuters, hybrids, and e-bikes, a balance of some padding whilst retaining friction-free movement of the legs is the ideal. This is because if you’re riding one of these kinds of bikes, you’re likely to regularly switch positions.
Two seats that we think achieve this balance well are the…
The cutaway channel is designed to prevent the numbness of soft tissues in a gentleman’s area.
Not all male cyclists suffer from this problem, and the truth is that the vast majority are unlikely to suffer from it when riding only short distances. However, if you have had these kinds of issues before or are likely to be undertaking long rides, a cutaway channel is indeed an excellent idea.
Choose a longer nose if you anticipate doing longer rides. A longer nose helps to free up your hip and leg movement. Plus, it also allows you to put more force through the pedals when in a forward and more aggressive riding position.
Choose a shorter nose saddle if you anticipate doing shorter rides. Less power can be applied through these seats as you cannot adopt a forward position. Cruiser and city bikes will typically use these types of saddles.
Wide saddles go hand in hand with lots of padding and short noses. What they all have in common is that they’re designed to offer support for the rider in an upright position. Consequently, they work well over short distances. Over longer distances, they can be a problem, as the width can cause friction and chafing.
On the other hand, narrow saddles go hand in hand with minimal padding and long noses. They offer minimal extra support for the sit bones but conversely create minimal issues with chafing.

Hopefully, if you follow the few basic tips in our Buying Guide, you should be able to find something suitable.
Although it’s hard to select just one bike seat as our top pick, the…
… was definitely the one that impressed us the most. Despite being the least expensive in our review, it was never the less well made with some thin but effective padding. We also liked the fact that it’s suitable for a lot of different bikes and includes a long cutaway channel.
The fact that it comes with a no quibble one-year warranty is the final clincher.
Enjoy your bike, and enjoy your rides.
