The Launch X431 V Pro is a diagnostic scan tool that scans vehicles for any problems in the engine and electronic systems.
In fact, it is one of the best diagnostic scanning tools on the market with numerous advanced functions and capabilities. And provides reliable diagnostics every time. However, there is a lot more that makes this product an excellent purchase.
In this article, we will discuss the key features that we love and hate, as well as providing an in-depth look at the pros and cons as well.
So, let’s get this Launch X431 V Pro Review underway and find out if this superb diagnostic scanning tool could be exactly what you’re looking for…
Launch X431 V Pro Review
The Launch X431 V Pro supports over 63 motor brands and over 220 different car models from all around the world.
It uses Android 7.1 as its dedicated OS system, which is easy to use and works well most of the time. The scanner comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity for versatile connection options.
Versatile and practical…
The large tablet display looks great and is easy to read. The X431 V Pros is able to provide a complete system diagnosis including the fuel system, transmission/gearbox, body and engine information, amount of emissions and the emission system, and much more.
The 7000mAh battery provides excellent battery life. And depending on what it is used for, you can expect up to 4-7 hours of use on a single charge.
Built for the workplace…
The body is mainly plastic but felt great in hand. It is drop resistant, which is great for mechanics on the clumsier side. It is also grease, dust, and waterproof, which means it can withstand even the dirtiest of garages with ease.
The product has a 5-year warranty and a 2-year free updating service to keep the OS up to date with the latest vehicles.
Setting up is quite simple and can be done wirelessly. After signing up, registering and updating the tablet-like device is ready to be used.
Included in the box is a bunch of different adapters/plugs for the different vehicles. The device is wireless, and the OBD plugs act as a dongle essentially. There is also a cable for those who don’t wish to use the Bluetooth connection.
After plugging in the correct OBD-2 plug onto your vehicle, the device will connect to the dongle, and after choosing the correct make and model of the vehicle, you can start scanning the vehicle.
The scanner can be plugged directly into the OBD-2 port, but also supports Bluetooth for wireless scanning. This is especially handy when you are troubleshooting a car whilst working on it. It is also perfect for busy mechanics who need to work on more than one car simultaneously.
During our testing, we never experienced any cut-outs whilst using the Bluetooth connection other than the occasional lag in information processing.
A quick update…
All the updates are done using Wi-Fi, and we recommend updating the scanner right out the box to make sure it has all the newer car models as well.
The scanner supports all 10 OBD-2 tests. And is able to perform all the tests you would expect from the OBD-2 port like identifying and erasing error codes, viewing freeze-framed data, onboard tests, and reading DTC’s.
A familiar operating system…
The Android operating system is not only useful for scanning cars, but the stock Android experience means you can use it like any other Android tablet if you’d like. Apps can be installed straight from the Google Play Store.
The scanner doesn’t just perform all OBD-2 functions but has some extra built-in features as well. It is able to do an oil reset, throttle matching, and ECU coding. It can also do EPB-, TPMS-, BMS- and ETS- resets.
This gives mechanics the option to reset certain parameters after successfully repairing them. This is crucial and saves a lot of hassle and extra money on other equipment.
Things we didn’t like
Unfortunately, there are a lot of counterfeit products on the market at the moment. So, if the price seems too good to be true, especially considering the high price these retail for, it probably is. Therefore, make sure you purchase your LAUNCH X431 V PRO from a reputable retailer.
If you won’t be using English, it should be noted that a lot of the translations aren’t particularly good, with quite a few mistakes. If possible, sticking to English would be the best option.
Quality comes at a cost…
Compared to other products, the LAUNCH X431 V PRO is quite expensive. If you are only doing small projects or working on your own vehicle in your garage, you’d be better of buying a less expensive product.
The last complaint we have is the program itself. It isn’t the most appealing or user-friendly program to use. Information can sometimes be difficult to get to. Scrolling through countless menus or needing to go through three different load screens to get the right information can be daunting. However, once we got used to the software, things became much easier.
Launch X431 V Pro Review Pros and Cons
- Large, easy to read screen.
- Android OS.
- Wireless connectivity through Bluetooth.
- Software has a steep learning curve.
- Many copies on the market, so buy from a reputable dealer.

Launch X431 V Pro Review Round-Up
Vehicles are using more and more electronic features in their composition as advancements are continually made. Therefore, diagnostic scanners need to evolve, as well. Having a reliable scanner can save you a lot of money and helps you detect problems early on or problems you might not notice otherwise.
The LAUNCH X431 V PRO is suitable for all professional mechanics or car enthusiasts who regularly work on motors. It is compatible with a large variety of vehicles from 1996 and up, making it a great choice for any car shop. The cord is long enough for all applications, and the wireless option gives even more flexibility to the mechanic.
However, the interface isn’t the easiest to use, but the Android OS opens up the possibility of multitasking with different apps whilst scanning. The updates provide newer car models, and the system is updated regularly.
If you need a durable, reliable, and fast diagnostic scanner, the LAUNCH X431 V PRO is right up your alley. The 2-year free updates are a great plus, and the 5-year warranty shows the manufacturers believe in the durability of the product.
