Top 8 Best Truck Speakers On The Market In 2021 Review
1 Pioneer TS6900PRO PRO Series 6 x 9 Inches 2-Way 600W MAX – 2 Speaker Set – Best Premium Truck Speakers
When it comes to making speakers with high-quality sound production, Pioneer is known for being one of the best. In this review, we are looking at the model #TS6900PRO. It’s a great two speaker set, which we think many drivers will want.
What about the sound level?
These speakers are built for those of us who like the whole world to hear our music. They pull 600 watts at max power, and at nominal, that drops to 100 watts.
Each speaker measures 6 inches x 9 inches, which makes them ideal for most trucks. We like the bullet-shaped tweeter combined with an oval woofer. Together these provide a high-quality sound level.
Can they really handle that power?
Yes, thanks to the large magnetic circuit designed into the units, these speakers are made for rocking out. They can certainly handle higher power and provide greater sensitivity.
The only downsides are the slightly higher price and required amp. If you’re spending this much on good speakers, you’ll want the best sound quality. That means hooking an amp up to the system for the best sound.
You’ll need a quality amp to get the full benefit of these speakers in your truck. Also, the price makes them a bit more expensive than what most truck owner will want to spend. They will also require a bit of tinkering to get their optimal performance.
- Includes two 6” x 9” speakers.
- 600 Watts max power.
- Pulp cone woofer and bullet tweeter.
- Designed for high sensitivity and power.
- On the expensive side.
2 JBL CLUB6520 6.5″ 300W Club Series 2-Way Coaxial Car Speaker – 2 Speaker Set – Best Mid Range Truck Speakers
Another big name in the sound production industry is JBL, and here we’re looking at the model CLUB6520. This is another two speaker set, making it perfect for your truck.
How big are they?
These are 2-way speakers, and they each measure 6.5 inches in diameter. Now, if you need something smaller, the Club Series is available down to 3.5 inches. However, we’d go with the larger units for more sound.
These are high sensitivity speakers with a 300 watt max. There’s a pair of polypropylene and a single woofer cone spitting 150 watts.
How sensitive is it?
The dome tweeter is PEI balanced to 3 ohms, with a sensitivity of 92 dB. This means they deliver a much higher quality sound than you’d expect at this price point.
Our only complaint is the minimal details on the installation instructions. The sound quality is good, but it can be a bit tricky getting it all hooked up.
- Includes two 6.5” diameter speakers.
- 300 Watts max power.
- PEI balanced.
- Available in multiple sizes.
- Minimal installation instructions provided.
3 Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5″ Full-Range 3-Way Coaxial Speaker – 2 Speaker Set – Best Value Truck Speakers for the Money
One of the best 2 speaker sets for trucks is the R165X3 Prime series from Rockford Fosgate. We think these are some of the best factory replacement speakers for the price. You’ll love them if you’re looking to replace your stock speakers yourself.
Are your stock speakers rattling?
This can be a sign of a blown speaker, which happens when cheap speakers are pushed too hard. It often happens to the speakers that come stock on cars and trucks. And it’s also the main reason people upgrade the factory speakers.
These Prime series full-range 3-way coaxial speakers are designed for an easy upgrade. They measure 6.5 inches in diameter and have a depth of 2.15 inches. They also come with all the mouthing hardware required, including the grilles. This makes it super easy to swap out your stock speakers for these beauties.
What about the sound quality?
Rockford Fosgate’s build quality is legendary, as is their sound control. The speakers feature polypropylene cones, a midrange, and a silk dome Piezo tweeter. Together this all provides a pretty good sound level for the price range. Our only complaint is the minimal bass they produce. We’d recommend combining these with a decent subwoofer for a better all-around sound.
Still, considering the price, these are some of the best truck replacement speakers for the price. This is especially true considering the provided 1-year warranty, which allows you to buy with confidence.
- Includes two 6.5” diameter speakers.
- 90 Watts max power.
- 3-Way full-range configuration.
- Integrated tweeter crossover.
- Backed by a 1-Year Warranty.
- Produces minimal bass levels.
4 Pioneer PIOTSA6880F A-Series 4 Way Coaxial Speaker System – Best Truck Speakers for Bass
Pioneer makes another entry on our list, but this time with something a bit smaller and more reasonable. We aren’t saying the first item we looked at is overkill because we know some people like their music loud. But for about half the price, you can still get Pioneer level sound quality.
Here we are looking at their model #POITSA6880F, which is part of the A-Series. They are slightly smaller than their cousins at 6” x 8”, and they have a lower maximum power of 350 Watts.
But are they right for you?
While this is far lower than the other Pioneer speakers reviewed above, it’s still more than most. Plus, you get the twin 11mm PET hard dome tweeters and a midrange cellulose fiber cone. Oh, and they are made from carbon and mica injection-molded polypropylene.
What does all this mean?
This all comes together to generate smooth sound characteristics while still providing that high impact bass. So yes, you can feel the music when you turn it up on these speakers.
To round things out, Pioneer’s Open & Smooth sound concept delivers a seamless transition between the tweeter drivers and the midrange. The off-axis frequency response is uniform, making these ideal for automotive applications.
Our final verdict?
To summarize, we think these are the best truck speakers for under $100 that you can buy. They’re easy to install, priced aggressively, and produce top-quality sound.
- Includes two 6” x 8” speakers.
- 350 Watts max power.
- Pioneer’s Open and Smooth sound concept.
- Twin 11mm PET hard dome tweeters.
- Rumors of poor quality control.
5 Pyle Gear PLG46.3 Three-Way Car Speaker System – 2 Speaker Set – Best Budget Truck Speakers
One nice thing about upgrading your truck audio system is that you can do it on a budget. This is evident when you look at this next option from Pyle Gear. They make a 3-Way Car Speaker System at a very attractive low price.
But will they fit your vehicle?
Yes, this is one of the best features of these speakers; they are available in a wide range of sizes. For this review, we focused on the Pro 4” x 6” 3-way speakers with 180 watts max output power.
If you’re looking for something bigger, though, you’re in luck. Not only can you order these speakers with a larger diameter, but you can also get them with a higher (or lower) maximum power. They even make 2-way, 4-way, 5-way, and 8-way options should you need them. But there’s more to this option than the countless versions…
What really matters is the performance…
These speakers offer that in both sound and appearance. They feature an eye-catching yellow cone. This looks good and produces quality sound thanks to the poly injected construction that makes it stiff without adding weight.
We also like the 4-ohm speaker component. This compensates for the small gauge wire many cars are fitted with to help produce a better quality sound. There is also a 30-ounce magnet on the 3-way system and a 0.5 inch neodymium midrange. This is balanced with a super film tweeter to produce really nice highs.
- Available in multiple sizes and powers.
- Bright yellow details.
- 4-ohm components for better balance.
- 3-way sound system.
- May not be exact stock replacement sizes.
6 BOSS Audio Systems CH6530 Car Speakers – 2 Speaker Set – Best BOSS Truck Speakers
The other big name in sound production is Boss Audio Systems. They make a two speaker set for your car or truck that they sell under model #CH6530. We think they are some of the best budget car speakers available.
Here’s what you need to know…
First off, these are another pair of 6.5-inch diameter speakers. That makes them ideal for upgrading most truck sound systems. These are full range and provide a 3-way sound configuration.
The maximum power is limited to a whopping 300 Watts per pair, so 150 Watts per speaker. This means they won’t be the loudest in our review, but they will provide plenty of sound.
But are the sound levels clear?
Considering the price, we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the sound quality these speakers produce. The cone is made from polyurethane for durability, and the voice coils allow for longer play times thanks to their high-temperature functionality. In addition to this, the music is kept clean and clear by the strong and rigid platform provided by the stamped basket.
The Piezoelectric tweeter functions without a crossover and is more resistant to overloads. The only complaint we could find on these speakers is the installation. It’s not the easiest, and Boss highly recommends you have a professional do the job. We’d agree for top-quality sound, which unfortunately adds to the final cost.
- Includes two 6.5” diameter speakers.
- 300 Watts max power.
- Full range 3-way sound.
- 1” high-temperature voice coil.
- Backed by a 3-Year Platinum Warranty
- Professional installation is strongly recommended.
7 Pyle PL463BL Three Way Car Sound Speaker System – Best Rated Truck Speakers
Pyle makes another car or truck audio system upgrade with their PL463BL speakers. These are an alternative to the bright yellow options we reviewed above, but the color isn’t the only difference.
Are you looking for the best cheap truck speakers?
If so, this might be your best bet. Like with the other option from Pyle reviewed above, these speakers are available in a range of sizes, systems, and powers. For this review, we focused on the 3-way system 4” x 6” speakers with a 240 Watt maximum power. Now, this series is also available in a 2-way and a 4-way system. So, no matter what you’ve got set up, you’ll have no trouble connecting it all.
Plus, there are both higher and lower power potions. And sizes up to a 6” x 9”, and all the way down to a 4” diameter option. We expect you’ll have no trouble finding a speaker to fit your space.
As for the sound quality…
These speakers feature the same 4-ohm components noted on the other Pyle speakers above. We appreciate how this compensates for the small gauge wire many cars are fitted with.
However, that is where the similarities end as this unit has a 20-ounce magnet and a full 1-inch neodymium film dome midrange. The tweeters are 3/4 inch piezo tweeters for all-around balanced sound delivery.
Are they the best speakers for trucks?
The main issue we had with these is the short lifespan. While we didn’t experience any issues in testing, we’ve heard tales of failures after only a few months. It’s likely that they are quality control or possibly even installation error issues.
- Available in multiple sizes and powers.
- 20 oz magnet and 1” neodymium midrange.
- 1-inch ASV voice coil.
- Rich sound with low distortion.
- Reports of the speakers failing sooner than expected.
8 Pyle PL63BL Three-Way Sound Speaker System – Best Component Truck Speakers for Sound Quality
The final option in our search for the best speakers for trucks is another production from Pyle. This time we are looking at their model #PL63BL. This is similar to the above speaker but comes in different sizes.
Do you know what size speakers will fit in your vehicle?
Pyle does, and they likely make a speaker that will fit perfectly. You’ll note this as soon as you look at the size options available for any of their audio speaker lines. This particular series comes with a beautiful blue poly injection cone.
This will make it stand out, so everyone knows you’ve upgraded your system before you even crank up the volume. As with the unit we just reviewed, these speakers feature a 20-ounce magnet structure.
It’s all in the shape…
We like these speakers for their round design. It provides full range triaxial audio even at higher volumes. This means a better all-around sound. As does the 1 inch ASV voice coil, which is the same as we detailed just above. Combine this all with the low impedance 4-ohm design, and we expect you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the sound quality.
Especially considering the aggressively low price point of these speakers. We wouldn’t say these are the best loud truck speakers available. However, for the price, they are hard to beat.
- Available in multiple sizes and powers.
- Eye-catching blue poly injection cone.
- 4 ohm component audio speaker.
- 3/4-inch piezo tweeter.
- Not the longest lasting speakers.
Best Truck Speakers – Buying Guide
Unless your truck is brand spanking new, there’s a solid chance the speakers could do with an upgrade. Over time everything degrades, and when speakers begin to deteriorate, so does the sound quality. Even if they haven’t already blown out, they could likely do with replacing.
Especially if you have an older vehicle…
Or if you ever hear that annoying vibration when the bass hits or if there’s a bit of crackling in the high notes. Or if you simply can’t get the sound up loud enough to drown out your own voice.
Whether you want to pretend you sound as good as Adel or just soak the rhythm upgrading your speakers will upgrade your driving experience. So, there are good reasons to buy new truck speakers, but which are the best ones to pick?
The first consideration you’ll need to ponder is installation…
Are you looking to DIY this audio speaker upgrade, or will you be handing your keys over to a professional? This needs to be your first thought, as not all speakers are easily-swapped replacements. However, the speakers in our review are available in a wide range of sizes.
This means you can likely find new truck speakers the same size as your old ones. We like these factory/stock speaker replacements for their ease of installation.
However, if you want to increase your sound level, you might need to increase the size of your speakers. Or maybe even the number of speakers fitted out in your ride. Either of these cases will require either a professional, or some serious DIY skills.
You’ll also need to consider the power requirements…
If you want more volume, you’ll likely need a higher-powered speaker. This means it will be drawing a considerably higher number of watts. We advise that you first confirm that the rest of your sound system can accommodate this increase in power usage. If you’re going to upgrade your speakers, you may want to consider also upgrading the rest of your sound system.
Clarity is really what it’s all about…
Yes, volume is important, but you still want to enjoy the full range of the music. We highly recommend spending a bit more for a higher quality of sound.
You’ll notice the clarity difference immediately between a budget and a top-end truck speaker. If you’re going to spend the time and money to start the job, we’d recommend spending a touch more for that improved sound quality.
We know that price is always a concern…
And we aren’t saying you need to blow your entire paycheck on a whole new audio system. In fact, you can get really good sound clarity from many mid-range automotive speakers.
You’ll want to make sure that they provide full-range audio. We like speakers with tweeters, mids, and a good woofer. Sometimes it’s best to have each of these independently, but there are many all-in-one speakers out there.
Style is another consideration and one you might not expect…
While speakers are generally considered pleasure devices for our ears, they can also stimulate the eye. Some options reviewed above come with wildly colored cones or grills.
This can add a touch of custom personality to your ride visually. We like these options as they let you show off your upgrade even when the radio is off.

Which Are the Best Truck Speakers?
There are a number of good speakers out there that are designed for cars and trucks. The biggest issue is finding the right balance in the levels of clarity, volume, fit, and of course, price. Hopefully, our review has helped you decide on the best speakers for your truck.
However, if you still have trouble choosing, we have one last piece of advice. In our opinion, if you’re going to spend the time and money, you might as well go for the best that you can. And that means the…
