Top 8 Best Motorcycle Tool Kits On The Market In 2021 Review
1 Biker’s Choice Tool Kit 151522 – Best Comprehensive Motorcycle Tool Kit
This is an emergency tool kit that comes in a roll-up format. It’s designed specifically for Harley owners. However, it’s got plenty of good stuff to make it a good purchase for just about any motorcycle.
So, what do you get in this little roll?
It comes with a good variety of tools that include three imperial open-ended wrenches. These are 1/2” and 9/16”, 3/8” and 7/16”, and also 5/8” and ¾.” Additionally, there is a 10mm combination wrench.
This combination of both imperial and metric tools is a result of the mix used by Harleys. If you have a Japanese made motorcycle, although this is still a great emergency kit, you might have to replace a few of the wrenches.
To help you out of any potential tight spot, the kit includes an adjustable wrench. It’s a versatile addition that can often help to get you out of serious trouble. Happily, the quality is also solid, so it won’t let you down when it’s most needed.
As you would expect from a Harley-aligned kit…
The rest of the kit is also of good quality. The tools are hardened and will not bend or round off under high pressure. Even the roll is nicely stitched and finished.
The kit’s other main components include a 3’8” drive ratchet and socket set, plus ten hex keys, a six-in-one screwdriver, a tier gauge, and locking pliers. Like the adjustable pliers, we’re pleased to see locking pliers in the kit as they can often get you out of a very tricky situation in the absence of a more comprehensive home tool kit.
What else is included?
Other handy roadside repair items include mechanical wire, electrical wire, electrical tape, and zip ties.
- Highly suitable for Harley owners.
- Fits easily under motorcycle seats.
- Adjustable pliers.
- Locking pliers.
- Hardened tools.
- Not well-suited for Japanese motorcycles.
- Limited socket set.
2 Apollo Tools DT9774 SAE 56-Piece Auto Tool Kit with Case – Best Basic Motorcycle Tool Kit
This is a compact tool kit that’s perfect for throwing into the back of your vehicle for emergencies. It comes in a well-made case that keeps all the tools well organized and easy to access when you need them.
Starting with a positive…
The feature we love most about this kit is that you can choose either an SAE or metric kit depending on the type of vehicle you’re driving. Just be sure to order the correct one, or you might find yourself having to pass it on as a gift at some point.
There’s no doubt that the Apollo Tools kit has a lot of what you’re likely to need in the case of a breakdown. However, there are a few notable omissions we want to deal with first.
Firstly, there are no open-ended wrenches. Additionally, there’s no adjustable wrench, and also there are no locking pliers. These are all pretty much must-haves, so we would undoubtedly add these few items, which would then make this a much more complete kit.
The other good stuff?
It comes with a bit driver and an excellent selection of bits. You also get a good range of sockets that’s hard to beat in a kit of this size and at this price-point. Also included are eight hex keys, slip joint pliers, a tire gauge, and a handful of zip ties.
- Well-made and organized case.
- Wide range of bits.
- Good selection of sockets.
- Available in SAE or Metric.
- No open-ended wrenches.
- Does not include an adjustable wrench or locking pliers.
3 CruzTOOLS RTH3 RoadTech H3 Tool Kit for Harley-Davidsons – Best Premium Motorcycle Tool Kit
This is a very small and compact emergency tool kit. Never the less, it still includes just about everything you’re likely to need to get you out of most breakdown situations. Once you take a closer look at the contents, we’re sure you’ll agree that this is a very well thought out little kit.
It’s also designed specifically for Harley Davidsons, and one thing we’re thrilled with is the overall quality, which is second to none for this type of kit. The tools are all quality pieces, and that also includes the premium roll they come in.
Not surprisingly, this all comes at a cost…
Unfortunately, the price is very much at the upper end of the range for such a small kit. This is something that makes it straight into our moans and niggle section.
The kit comes with five combination wrenches, an adjustable wrench, and a set of locking pliers. They are all made from tough, reinforced, and hardened steel, so they are sure to easily cope with as much force as you could ever apply to them.
Other premium inclusions…
The kit includes a 1/4” drive socket and three different size sockets. The good news is that you also get a 5/8” spark plug socket. Something all too commonly overlooked on even the best motorcycle tool kits. Other additions that are also frequently omitted include the spark plug gap gauge and thread locker.
A few essential tools and accessories to finish off this nicely presented kit include a six-in-one screwdriver, a pressure gauge, some duct tape, and six cable ties. How could we possibly live without cable ties?
- Premium quality.
- 5/8” spark plug socket.
- Adjustable wrench.
- Locking pliers.
- Spark plug gap gauge.
- Price is on the high side.
4 Stockton Roadside Street Bike Motorcycle Tool Roll Kit – Metric – Best Value Metric Motorcycle Tool Kit
This is a metric motorcycle tool kit. It makes it suitable for Japanese and imported motorcycles. If you have a Harley or similar domestic bike, you should instead look at a Harley specific tool kit or one with an SAE option, like the above options.
So what do you get in this metric tool kit?
The Stockton Roadside Street Bike Motorcycle Tool Roll Kit contains a wide range of tools at an excellent price. The tools’ quality is not as good as the kit we’ve just reviewed, but they are still good enough for the job and offer very fair value.
The kit consists of no less than 18 different sized hex keys. There are also a generous six open-ended wrenches. Including; 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 15mm, and 17mm.
You also get a much broader range of sockets than you’d expect with something at this kind of price. You’ll find a 3’8” socket driver with 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm sockets. Even better, you get 16, 18, and 21mm spark plug sockets. Now that’s not bad at all.
The more we look at this kit, the more we like it. It helps that there are two Phillips and two slotted screwdrivers included. What’s more, having access to a pair of snip pliers and needle-nose pliers is another undoubted bonus.
The rest of the kit contains plenty of other tools and accessories we like and expect to find. Dig around, and you’ll find locking pliers, an adjustable wrench, safety wire, electrical wire, a tire pressure gauge, electrical tape, and the all-important handful of zip ties.
All you could ever need…
We’re already impressed and think this could very well be one of the most comprehensive motorcycle tool kits in its price range. However, if we had any doubts, then also having a fuel line hose pretty much seals the deal for us.
- Comprehensive range of hex keys.
- Good selection of sockets.
- Three spark plug sockets.
- Snip and needle-nose pliers.
- Fuel line hose.
- Great value.
- Not suitable for motorcycles with SAE components.
5 CruzTOOLS RTB1 RoadTech B1 for BMW Motorcycles 2018 and Onwards – Best BMW Motorcycle Tool Kit
This is the most expensive motorcycle tool kit on our list. The quality of the tools is impeccable. All of the items are of the very best standard. Furthermore, even the tool roll is something that looks likely to last a lifetime.
BMW motorcycle owners expect nothing less…
The kit is specifically for owners of BMW motorcycles that were manufactured in 2018 or later. This means that it’s only suitable for a significantly narrower group of customers. However, if this is you and you buy the kit, you’re very unlikely to be disappointed.
The basics of the kit contain five hardened steel open combination wrenches. There is also a premium quality larger sized adjustable wrench. Plus, you get a robust pair of locking pliers.
There is a six in one screwdriver. Like everything else, it’s beautifully made. Though at this kind of price, we’d have preferred to see a set of four separate screwdrivers.
Can’t beat the quality here…
There are a set of Torx and Hex keys that look and feel like they’ve been made from Kryptonite. The range is relatively small, though presumably, they will cover all the bases for your BMW. Its socket set contains a driver, an extension, and four sockets. Additionally, there’s also a 19 x 21mm axle adaptor.
Final bits and pieces include duct tape, zip ties, a pressure gauge, mechanical wire, and thread locker.
Premium quality at a premium price…
The fact is that if you already own a new or recently purchased BMW motorcycle, you’re likely to be less price-sensitive than a lot of other alternative motorcycle purchasers. With this in mind, the high price of the kit is unlikely to deter you, given its premium quality.
- Strong locking pliers.
- Adjustable wrench.
- Hardened steel tools.
- Beautifully made tool roll.
- Premium quality everything.
- Eye-watering cost.
6 Pit Posse Motorcycle ATV Metric Tool Kit – Best Metric Motorbike Tool Kit with Zip Pocket
This is a metric tool kit that is, therefore, most suitable for Japanese and imported motorcycles. If you have a Harley or a motorcycle with Imperial sized components, just skip ahead to the next review.
There are a couple of notable features that stand out compared to the other kits, so let’s start with those. The first thing that’s noticeable by their absence is the lack of a socket set. It’s not necessarily a deal-breaker though, at this kind of price, it’s a surprise omission. Despite not having a socket set, you do still get a spark plug socket and removal tool.
We appreciate the handy clear zip pocket…
The second noticeable inclusion is that the tool roll has a cleverly integrated clear plastic zip pocket. This is used to store a selection of included spare bolts. It’s also a great place to add in your fuses and wire that doesn’t come as part of the kit.
The tool kit’s main part contains all of the good stuff we’d expect to see in the best motorcycle tool kits. You get five open wrenches, a six-in-one screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, lockable pliers, and a wide selection of hex keys.
Other handy tools and accessories include a flashlight, a pressure gauge, and zip ties.
A superb option if you don’t need a socket set…
If you can live without a socket set, this is a great value and well thought out kit.
- Useful storage pocket.
- A wide selection of hex keys.
- Adjustable wrench.
- Lockable pliers.
- Spare bolts of different sizes included.
- Good value.
- No socket set included.
- No wire or duct tape.
7 Windzone Motorcyle Tool Kit EK-1HD
The Windzone tool kit has most of the tools we’d expect to find in the better motorcycle tool kits. However, there are a couple of tools we’d still like to have seen, though their omission is not necessarily a deal-breaker. On the other hand, we have some issues with it that might lead us to look elsewhere.
Let us explain…
Firstly, and possibly most importantly, the price for what’s provided is a little on the high side. The tools are of excellent quality, but at best, this only just about justifies the price tag.
The other big negative is the tool roll. It’s horrible, it’s all clear plastic on one side, so it looks and feels cheap. It’s something that we have very little confidence in over the long term concerning longevity.
But wait, there’s some light…
Thankfully, the tools are a different story, and you get a great selection of high-quality items. The only missing thing is a set of sockets to go with the socket driver and sparkplug sockets.
What you do get includes a set of five hardened drop-forged chromed plated wrenches. You also get lockable pliers and a wide selection of Hex and Torq keys. There’s no adjustable wrench, though, which is a little disappointing.
Other tools include a six-in-one screwdriver, a fuel line hose, a flashlight, electrical wire, and a pressure gauge.
Good tools, bad bag…
All in all, the tools are high-quality, though, for the price, we’d have liked to see a few more included. The cheap tool bag is also a touch difficult for us to get past.
- High-quality tools.
- Torq keys included.
- Lockable pliers.
- No adjustable pliers or sockets.
- The tool roll is of poor quality.
8 Motion Pro 08-0161 Multi-Purpose Tool – Best Multipurpose Motorcycle Tool
This multi-purpose tool is perfect to be used as part of a more comprehensive motorcycle tool kit. It can take care of some of the basic emergency needs in the case of a breakdown. However, you will still need to supplement it by adding your own extras, such as zip ties, duct tape, pliers, and a pressure gauge.
So, what can you do with this Motion Pro tool?
The tool has both a 3/8” and ½” driver. This makes it versatile if you want to use it with any of your existing sockets. Suppose you don’t have any then, not to worry, as it comes with a small range of sockets.
One of the cool things worth highlighting is that the handle of the driver is not the same as a conventional one. It’s shaped to make it easier to get into those more awkward places. It’s a nice piece of design that may well get you out of a tricky situation that you might otherwise be stuck in.
It doesn’t end there…
The tool also has a series of attachments for removing screws. It has two sized Phillips head screwdrivers and two sized slot screwdrivers. Here again, the unique shaped handle can prove useful as you’re able to apply more torque if you come across a particularly stubborn or seized screw.
The Motion Pro Tool is a high-quality tool that comes in a very small and compact case. It’s easily the most compact motorcycle tool kit on our list, though sadly, it’s also one of the more expensive too. The price can be justified to a large extent because of its undoubted quality. However, it has much less versatility than the other tool kits we’ve reviewed, at much lower prices.
- Premium quality construction.
- Unique driver handle shape.
- Has a 3/8” and ½” driver.
- Very compact.
- Lacks a wide range of tools and accessories.
Best Motorcycle Tool Kits Buying Guide
In our experience, your tools’ quality is probably the most important consideration when weighing up the pros and cons of various kits. Good quality tools will not only last but will also not let you down at the roadside. Cheaply made tools with low quality steel are liable to bend, break, or deform when the going gets tough.
Why are we mentioning this upfront?
There are plenty of toolkits out there that offer a lot more tools and accessories at a much lower price than any we’ve featured here. However, to make it onto our top motorcycle tool kits list, they have all met a high standard of quality and durability.
If you want to get the very best and you are happy to pay the premium, then the kit CruzTOOLS RTB1 RoadTech for BMW motorcycles and the CruzTOOLS RTH3 RoadTech H3 for Harleys are both standouts for offering superb quality kits.
There are a few essentials that we feel all motorcycle tool kits should offer. If they don’t contain these items, then we strongly suggest you look to supplementing any kit you purchase with these items.
So, what are these essential items?
Firstly, a kit should contain a set of wrenches and sockets. Secondly, it should have an adjustable wrench as well as a set of pliers and preferably a set of lockable pliers. This last tool can get you out of a problematic situation when all other possibilities have been explored.
Thirdly, there should be a set of hex keys and preferably Torq keys too. Finally, there should also be both Phillips and a slot-style screwdriver. Two sizes of each would be ideal.
The motorcycle tool kits in our review that have all of these items include; the Biker’s Choice Tool Kit 151522, the CruzTOOLS RTH3 RoadTech H3 Tool Kit for Harley-Davidsons, the Stockton Roadside Street Bike Motorcycle Tool Roll Kit, and the CruzTOOLS RTB1 RoadTech B1 for BMW Motorcycles.
Accessories and extras are nice to have included in a motorcycle tool kit though, despite this, it wouldn’t stop you from buying a kit if these things were missing. The truth is that all of the extras we list are inexpensive and can be easily added to your kit. It’s much better to have a good quality basic set of tools than a comprehensive kit that’s of low quality.
Accessories we think are an almost must-have include the ubiquitous zip ties, duct tape, electrical wire, and fuses. It’s also handy to have a couple of spare bolts and a small flashlight. However, if you have a phone with you, these days, a flashlight might not be necessary.

We like it because it has all of the essential tools we look for in a basic kit. Additionally, it also has a few extras, like the electrical tape, zip ties, and electrical wire. Plus, it offers excellent value for such a comprehensive kit.
Enjoy your bike and your rides.
