Top 10 Best Bottle Jacks In 2019 Reviews

1 US JACK D-51125 Bottle Jack

So, the first jack that we’ll take a look at, proudly waves the flag and states ‘made in the USA’. US Jack wants to emphasize the point that this small but heavy duty jack is 100% American made. A rare but fine thing in this day and age we feel.

So, what about the jack itself?

It is a compact unit with a twelve-ton maximum lift. It features a firm, solid ductile-iron base that gives for a wide stance and positive load support. There is a fluid bypass system in place to prevent damaging over-travel.

The collapsed height of the US Jack is 9 inches. The ram extends to 6 ¼ of an inch with a further 4 ¼ inch screw giving you a maximum height lift of 19 ½ inches.

The intended use of the US Jack is for heavy duty trucks, farm, and plant machinery, mobile home set-up, or for any other kind of lifting that has little room for access or maneuver.

 Easy to control pump action…

The US jack has a smooth pump action with an easy to control release that is simply operated by placing the bar (included) over the release valve and slowly twisting to the left.

The jack is made fully from cast iron and has a strong steel ram and screw. It weighs 23 lbs which is heavy for a bottle jack, but hey, it’s all that American made quality showing through!

 Aids in positioning…

We like the carry handle fitted, very necessary on a jack of this weight, which can also aid in positioning of the jack under whatever you are in need of lifting.

This product is available in three hard wearing painted colors, military green, red or black.

US JACK D-51125 Bottle Jack
Our rating:5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

  • Small and strong
Cons
  • The lifting pod is of very small diameter.
  • Heavy

2 Alltrade 640912 Bottle Jack

Here we have a neat little number offered by Alltrade. This is a patented design which combines a jack stand and a bottle jack into a one-piece unit.

An all in one bottle jack that includes everything you need for that heavy lift in your workshop or garage. You get a three-ton lifting capacity allowing for a variety of lifting tasks. Aimed firmly at the auto trade this jack is designed to safely lift and hold both unibody and traditional body-on-frame cars and trucks.

 Totally stable when under load…

The jack is highly durable and has a wide steel base that will keep totally stable when under load. Once you have reached your preferred work height, a strong steel safety bar locks in place that will prevent the jack from lowering by itself.

The jack stand at its lowest point is 11 inches. With a default lift range from 11 to 17 ¼ inches, it can be raised to a further height of 21 inches if adjusted manually. The resting plate is nicely sized and is U shaped to give a firm grip to the underside of the vehicle being lifted.

 Next to no effort required…

The pump action for this jack is smooth and strong, requiring little effort to reach maximum height. To lower, just release the safety bar and slowly twist the handle for safe operation back down to the ground.

Although designed with the auto trade in mind, this is a bottle jack that can be used in a variety of places other than the garage. You can use this for lifting frameworks or floor joist work as well as on the construction site for lifting and support of work tasks.

 All in one design…

This is a great idea to incorporate the bottle jack and jack stand into a one unit feature. Good stuff.

One thing about this design, however, that should be pointed out is the totally flat steel base. As with a regular jack stand that rests on three legs, this rests across the whole base. So the surface beneath will have to be flat and secure too. If you are working on a stoney, gravel, or uneven surface, then the stand may not be fully secure.

Alltrade 640912 Bottle Jack
Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros
  • A jack and jack stand all in one.
  • Good safety features.
Cons
  • You will need a fully flat floor surface to be sure the jack is secure.

3 Pro-Lift B-012D Bottle Jack

Now it’s time to take a look at by Pro-lift. This is a lifting jack that is easy and simple to use.

With a 12 ton maximum lift, this is a very strong and able unit. Most suitable for the auto trade, truck service, for farm and shop use or on the construction site. All the critical stress areas are made of heat treated steel for that long life performance.

 Safe and secure…

It has been designed to meet ANSI/PALD specification standards. The steel lifting saddle is of small diameter but has an added grip tread pattern. It has been engineered to hold your desired load safely and securely.

The Pro-lift has a lifting range from 9 ½ to 18 ⅞ inches. There is an extension screw to adjust and accommodate to the exact work height you require. A built-in bypass system is in place to protect against and prevent ram over travel.

 Twist and release…

The two-piece steel lifting bar gives you a nice easy pump-up lift. To lower just place the handle into the release valve and slowly twist.

A nice and light piece of portable kit that weighs in at just 18 lbs. The jack body has a carry handle also in place to aid adjusting to the direct position wanted for lifting. This is a suitable jack for your lifting needs. We feel it would be a great addition to your garage or home.

  • The lifting bar could be longer.

4 Pro-Lift B-004D Bottle Jack

Another Bottle Jack offered by Pro-lift, but this time it is of four-ton lifting capacity. Apart from a few differences, we will point out that this is constructed to the same design standards as the B-012D model we have looked at in the previous review.

This is a very strong and able unit. Most suitable for the auto trade, truck service, for farm and shop use or on the construction site. All the critical stress areas are made of heat treated steel for that long life performance.

Pro-Lift B-004D Bottle Jack
Our rating:4.1 out of 5 stars (4.1 / 5)

Pros
  • Very light and portable.
Cons
  • No carry/adjustment handle fitted.

5 ATD Tools 7385 Short Bottle Jack

Next up, we’ll look at a jack the manufacturer ATD fondly refers to as the ‘12 ton shorty’.

This is a Jack true to its name. The lift range is from just 6 inches and at the maximum stretch is 10 ⅝ inches. As said, this little short boy can lift up to a wapping 12 tons even though it is half the height of other jacks in this review.

It is operated with the two-piece handle inserted into a side pump and will give a good easy action to lift. For release place the handle over the release valve and twist slowly.

 A strong and able jack…

All working steel components have been heat treated and meet all ASME/ANSI-PALD safety standards. This is a strong and able jack suitable for working in a range of places such as the garage, workshop, container lifting, or on the construction site.

The small diameter lifting pod has a good grip tread. A good size sturdy steel base of 6 by 5⅜ of an inch will give for a secure and safe stand while lifting. It weighs just 6.65 lbs and has a top mounted carry handle.

Start at the lowest of heights…

The ‘shorty’ is designed for low lifting. This means although it can start at lower heights than other jacks we are looking at. This does mean the maximum height lift is also less than others, at just 10 ⅝ inches.

ATD Tools 7385 Short Bottle Jack
Our rating:3.9 out of 5 stars (3.9 / 5)

Pros
  • Super low and super heavy lifting ability.
Cons
  • The low profile of this jack compromises maximum lift height.

6 Strongway High Lift Bottle Jack

The Strongway high lift bottle jack is another stubby unit with low lift ability.

This is a two-ton maximum double ram lifting jack. Suitable for lifting heavy-duty machinery, automobiles and trucks, industrial construction equipment and other objects that are in need of a low profile lifting start with an extended reach.

 Extra accurate placement…

The lifting range is from an impressively low 5 7/8 inches and can raise to a maximum height of 14 ½ inches. The ram travel is 6 ¼ inches with a screw top adjustment of 2 5/16 of an inch for extra accurate placement.

The dual stage large diameter hydraulic steel cylinder results in lower oil pressure that will, in turn, enable the lifting of larger loads on a small footprint — this aids in reducing wear and extends the service life.

A good quality, hard wearing unit…

The Strongway Jack is constructed of high graded steel and is built to ASME/PALD 2009 safety standards for a good quality, hard wearing unit. The base is 5 3/16 by 4 ⅞ of an inch.

A three-piece pump handle allows you to determine the length of the bar needed depending on the ease of access. At full length, it is a nice 14 ½ inches long. This will give you ample ease for pumping the jack. The paint finish is oil, dirt, and grease resistant with a durable finish to prevent rust.

Strongway High Lift Bottle Jack
Our rating:3.9 out of 5 stars (3.9 / 5)

Pros
  • Ultra low profile lift height.
Cons
  • Only 2-ton maximum lift.
  • The low profile of this jack compromises maximum lift height.

7 Torin Stubby Bottle Jack

The Torin ‘big red’ is again a bottle jack with a lower profile lift. This stubby hydraulic jack packs a punch though as it can indeed lift up to that super weight 12-ton capacity.

You will get a lifting range from a low of 7 ½ inches up to its maximum 11 inches. It is an ideal unit for auto repairs, construction site lifting, on the farm or wherever you may require a quick lift of any kind of heavy duty equipment.

 Lifting and nothing else…

The manufacturer, rightly so, makes the valid safety point that this Jack is not a suitable device for when downward or sideways force is necessary. We will add to that by saying this goes for all the jacks reviewed in this feature. These jacks are all designed for the function of lifting and nothing else.

This powerful jack makes all kinds of big loads easy to lift. The heavy-duty steel workings are all heat treated for full durability. A high-grade glide action pressure pump gives you ease of pumping with the two-piece jack handle.

 Sure-footed stability…

The large size base makes for sure-footed stability to the ground, and the lifting pod has a good grip tread. This is a heavier jack that weighs 16 ½ lbs but considering its capabilities this is hardly surprising.

It does have a carry handle that will also aid precision positioning. This Torin stubby jack meets all ANSI safety standards.

Torin
Our rating:3.9 out of 5 stars (3.9 / 5)

Pros
  • Very strong with 12-ton lifting capacity.
  • Low profile lift
Cons
  • Heavy.
  • The low profile of this jack compromises maximum lift height.

8 Powerbuilt 647501 Bottle Jack

We are looking at another heavyweight contender here, as this Powerbuilt bottle jack can lift up to twelve tons too. Powerbuilt claim the statement, “Made to be the most reliable tools in the market today,” about all of their tools range.

Such a bold, confident slogan needs a closer look. So, let’s just see if this jack can live up to its manufacturers claim…

Construction starts with a heavy duty and oversize cast iron base with the dimensions 5 3/4 by 5 7/8 inches. So this will give for a good firm stance to the ground. A forged steel saddle with a cast handle socket allows for maximum height.

 Sounds great so far…

Though the saddle appears to be of very small diameter with no grip pattern.

Lift range of this product is from a low of 8 ¼ inches up to a maximum 16 5/16 stretch. Not a bad scope. This is a heavy jack which weighs 16 ½ lbs.

Easy lowering and added lift height…

A positioning handle is fixed to the body for accuracy to your target lift. It doubles as a carry handle which is welcome for a heavy piece of kit like this. There is a pin style release valve for easy lowering, and an extension screw provides added lift height.

So, it does appear to be a strong solid jack, well up for the job of lifting whatever you desire. Powerbuilt also claims that their tools are built to actually ‘exceed’ ANSI standards. This is a very confident company!

Powerbuilt 647501 Bottle Jack
Our rating:3.6 out of 5 stars (3.6 / 5)

Pros
  • Manufacturers claims would suggest a very adept Bottle Jack.
  • High maximum lift of twelve tons.
Cons
  • Heavy.

9 Sunex 4412S Short Bottle Jack

The Sunex short bottle jack is a heavy duty model newly available on the market.

Another tough lifter that has a twelve-ton maximum lift. The all steel construction is fully welded with a sturdy base size of 5 ¼ by 5 ¾ inches. The lift range is from 7 ½ inches up to 14 ½ inches fully raised. The jack weight is heavy and is 14.33 lbs.

 Could do with a handle…

Considering this, we are surprised to see Sunex have not fitted a carry/adjustment handle to this jack body. For some of the more lightweight units we have looked at, this is not so much of an issue, but on this Jack, we feel that is a big oversight by the manufacturer.

The steel lifting pod has a grip tread pattern, though, the diameter is rather small. A two-piece handle provides the leverage for a good smooth lift. While the release is easy to control by the slow turn of the release valve.

 Safe and secure…

The Sunex 4412S has a built-in safety valve that will protect and prevent the jack from overextending of the ram, which could prove dangerous. An extension screw is in place for minor adjustments to reach your desired work height.

A strong solid unit offered by Sunex is on the market now.

Sunex 4412S Short Bottle Jack
Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros
  • High maximum lift of twelve tons.
Cons
  • No handle fitted for carrying or adjusting positioning before lifts.

10 Torin Bottle Jack

This Torin bottle jack is more of a mid-range model with a maximum lift of four tons. Here we are looking at a Jack most suitable for both residential or commercial uses.

It is still a nice strong jack for those who don’t wish to go ‘all out’ with a twelve-ton lifter. The wide base adds strength and stability. The Torin jack has industrial strength welding and is engineered using drop forged alloy steel that will give both quality and durability.

Oil leak free is the only way to be…

The inner/outer welded structure will keep your bottle jack oil leak free and gives it an overall stronger build.

Talking of oil, this Torin model hydraulics feature a high-quality oil which gives better high/low-temperature flexibility. It will operate comfortably between 40 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

 Safe and versatile…

The lifting range is from 7 ⅜ to 14 ½ inches high. An adjustable screw top extension also adds versatility. There is a glide action pressure pump incorporated that is designed to lift with a minimal effort of pumping.

There is also a built-in bypass and overload valve that will protect the hydraulics from extending beyond its limits. A piston ram utilizes a Y style polyurethane sealing ring and a backup ring. All clever stuff that will prevent the jack from creeping lower under loads acting rather like a safety locking device.

 Lifts it all…

This jack meets all ASME safety standards. It is a lightweight unit weighing just six lbs. So, we think this is a good powerful medium range jack that will suit the lifting of farm vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, cars and trucks and a whole range of other applications too.

Torin Bottle Jack
Our rating:3.7 out of 5 stars (3.7 / 5)

Pros
  • Good jack for both residential or commercial use.
Cons
  • No lifting handle is fitted.

Best Bottle Jacks Buyers Guide

Well, there you have it for this review. We have given you an insight into what these ten best bottle jacks are capable of. So, let’s now point out a few of the things you may need to consider if you are looking to buy one of the best Bottle Jacks currently available…

Bottle jacks are of a style all unto themselves. Unlike regular trolly jacks that have a large frame and a wide area of support, bottle jacks are much more compact with a smaller stature that can reach higher frames under your truck or machinery and lift them with ease.

Bottle Jacks reviews

What? And How Much Does It Weigh?

This kind of jack is offered by the tonnage it can lift, its size and the maximum lift height. We would say the main two considerations when buying a bottle jack is first, what kind of items are you going to be lifting and secondly, roughly how heavy are those items likely to be that you will lift?

If you just want a jack to be kept for home use, say, the odd job on your car, or this and that, then there is probably no point in spending the extra cash on a hefty twelve-ton lifter. Just look for a two, maybe four – at the most- ton jack.

They are still able to cope with some heavy lifting but are smaller and lighter than the more heavy duty jacks.

However, maybe you are to work on farm machinery, the construction site, or with larger vehicles such as SUVs or commercials. In that case, then you really need to be in search of a stronger twelve-ton jack.

In Use…

For operation, the best Bottle Jacks all perform with internal hydraulics that you pump with an extension bar. This, in turn, will wind up an arm which you can then position to a stable part of what you are lifting to then raise it.

You will generally find the pump action to be smooth and easy to do. The longer the bar is, the easier leverage and pumping will be. Bottle jacks don’t quick lift in the same way a trolley jack does as the arm winds out on a thread. So, rather than three to five pumps to achieve a maximum lift, a Bottle Jack will give a slower, more steady lift.

Limited Space?

One other good point of these jacks over trolley jacks is if space is limited or you have cramped access then you will find the bottle jack much more suitable to maneuver into.

Safety Issues

There are some big safety issues to be very aware of, though whilst using a bottle jack.

Firstly, as they generally have a small base to stand on, you must be on flat solid ground to do your lifting. Gravelly, uneven or sloping surfaces are unsuitable for using bottle jacks.

Also, the resting pods that contact to your item of lift are small in diameter so you need to make sure it is positioned somewhere that can take the strain of the direct lift. Basically somewhere structural and solid.

If you do not, you may find what you are lifting will come crashing back down to earth a mighty site quicker than you wanted! And an absolute no-no, is NEVER ever use these jacks for outward or downward force.

These are jacks for jacking UP, and that is it. Do not be that dumbass who thinks it would be a good idea to use one as a lever!

So, What’s The Best Bottle Jacks?

So, let us give you our recommendations from the best bottle jacks we have looked at in this review.

Firstly, if you are in the auto world and are looking for an alternative to the larger trolley jacks available, then the best bottle Jack for you would be the…

The fact that the two are combined is what jumps right out at us. What a great idea to put these two bits of necessary workshop kit together. If you are in the trade, we would suggest these are the ones for you.

In the twelve-ton jack range, the best Bottle jack has got to be the…

Strong, extremely well constructed with a good lift range. Most importantly, it is 100% made in the USA. Sadly a rare thing these days. So hands down, the US Jack is the one to get. Go large -go American.

Just one more to point out. If you are looking for something a bit smaller but still up for the job, then we suggest the best Bottle Jack as being the…

A good unit for the part-time user, to have on stand by for those various lifting jobs, as and when they come up.

OK, guys ‘n gals. That is it for this one. Hope this review has been of help to you and at least limited your choices down to a few suitable Jacks. Happy lifting. Until next time, see ya.
